Looking Back, Moving Forward

Most recent art show/sale at Transport Canada’s Holiday Sale (2019)

Greetings from snowy Ottawa!

I hope your new year (and new decade) is off to a good start!

2019 was to be a ‘production year’ for me to restock my supply of art for exhibitions; consequently, I only participated in three shows. Happily those resulted in some paintings finding new homes, and a new commission coming my way. 60% of my work was commissions (custom paintings ordered by specific clients), some of which were extremely involved, and were quite challenging. I plan to write a blog in the near future in which I’ll delve into some of the challenges of creating custom paintings.

My artistic focus is to continue to develop a new body of work I started last year when Rideau Recreation Centre accepted my proposal to display and sell work there this April through June. My theme is art that celebrates being physically active, specifically in beautiful outdoors scenes. All the work for this show is new (2019 and 2020 creations), as all the pieces had to fit my agreed-upon theme and meet particular size specifications (minimum 20”x20”). The show will feature my paintings and that of one other artist. My ideas for this series are numerous, so I will continue to create for this series indefinitely.

An ongoing task I’ve assigned myself is to regularly share content online (often about my current projects), on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. As well, I am endeavoring to write one blog post per month (found on my website). Please feel free to “like” and share my posts or follow me on those platforms. Social media is a great help to get a wider audience for my art!

If I’ve painted a commission for you at any point, please consider writing a review on my Facebook page or, if you do not use Facebook, I’d gratefully receive a written testimonial in any format to include on my website eventually. To those who already have taken the time to write reviews, please accept my heart-felt thanks. Your words help give my art and my character credibility and value in the eyes of potential clients.

Last but not least, I am fulfilling my 5 year old aspiration of issuing a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) with my paintings going forward. Though I am far from famous, and therefore am unlikely to have my work plagiarized, I want my clients to be able to display my art with pride and confidence. I want you to know that you have invested in a high quality, genuine, and original work of art. If you have purchased a painting from me (at any time) and would like a Certificate of Authenticity, please email me and I will prepare and send you a physical COA.

If you have an idea for a painting you’ve always wanted or envisioned, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. I like to help make dreams come true when I can, and am accepting commissions beginning in April.

Thank you for your support of my artistic pursuits, and have an amazing 2020!
